Paul
Kangro
Applied Technology Strategist
Novell
Paul Kangro, Applied Technology Strategist
for Novell, is responsible for providing technical
leadership with regard to Novell's products
and solutions to the market-place and working
closely with product development to ensure
market needs are met. Paul also provides direction
to major companies on strategic choices of
data centre technology, including consolidation,
DR and orchestration. During Paul's eight
years with Novell he has been instrumental
in the introduction of Novell's Linux product
portfolio into the Asia Pacific market and
is a regular presenter at industry events
and tradeshows.
Prior to joining Novell in 2000, Paul spent
16 years in technical, sales, marketing and
management assignments. The majority of his
time was at IBM, Paul has also worked for
Cable & Wireless Optus and Nortel Networks
in technical, marketing and project management
roles.
Paul studied Electrical Engineering at the
University and New South Wales and holds a
Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management
and a Masters of Management from the Macquarie
Graduate School of Management in Sydney. |

Steve Osborn

Gen-i
Steve Osborn, Service Line Manager - Open
Source Solutions at Gen-i, a division of Telecom
New Zealand. Gen-i is one of the largest New
Zealand and Australian based ICT Systems Integrators.
Within his service line, Steve has responsibilities
covering a mix of both strategic and operational
areas, particularly Gen-i relationships with
key 'Open Source' partners; the development
of their open source strategic model; the
operational management of Asterisk (a Linux
development company Geni-i purchased several
years back); plus operational and strategic
responsibility for Gen-i's SuperComputer facility
- The New Zealand SuperComputer Centre. |

Liam Gunson
Senior Consultant
IDC New Zealand
As a Senior Consultant at IDC New
Zealand Liam Gunson is responsible for Consulting,
Integrated Marketing Programs (IMP), and
Benchmarking solutions across Australia
and New Zealand. Engaging with the end-user,
channel and vendor communities, as well
as a wide network of IDC’s industry
experts, Liam assists companies with their
needs in areas such as strategic planning,
tactical marketing, and market intelligence.
This includes designing, managing, and executing
custom research and go-to-market solutions
to meet a client’s specific needs.
Liam has more than five years experience
in studying markets and the business strategies
within them; specialising in IT and telecommunications.
Between 2004-2008 Liam gained an intimate
knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand
ICT markets while managing IDC’s hardware
research and consulting across ANZ. Following
this, Liam worked as a research consultant
for TNS in London, undertaking a variety
of projects for some of the worlds largest
ICT companies, ranging from global brand
strategy studies through to local customized
research.
Liam holds a Bachelor of Management studies
from the University of Waikato, graduating
with a double major in Marketing and Economics.

Jeff Healey

Business Unit Manager
Hewlett-Packard
Jeff Healey is the Enterprise Server, Storage
& Networking(ESSN) Business Unit Manager for
Hewlett-Packard in New Zealand. Jeff is responsible
for leading the HP Converged Infrastructure
portfolio of products and solutions comprising
servers, storage, networking and infrastructure
software that help HPs customers drive benefits
across the full data center. Delivering the
benefits of lower cost of IT operations, higher
quality of service and increased speed in
introducing IT change, all combining to enable
IT to deliver better business outcomes. HP
is one of the few vendors to offer a complete
product and solution portfolio - from mobile
to desktop to data centers - to help simplify
the deployment of new installations and reduce
the complexity of IT infrastructure management.
This results in business technology that delivers
greater customer satisfaction, cuts costs
and reduces risk.
Jeff has been with the company for over 12
years and has worked in a number of roles
managing the enterprise product marketing
team, enterprise product portfolios, and managing
HP customer accounts. Jeff holds a Bachelor's
Degree in Management from the University of

Tony Rogers
General Manager Customer and Information Services
North Shore City Council
Tony Rogers, General Manager Customer and
Information Services, North Shore City Council,
oversees a variety of functions including
but not limited to the Council’s call
centre, web sites, information technology
systems (ITC), and business intelligence.
Tony leads a team of 120 FTEs and additional
contractors/consultants.
As a director on the Senior Management
team Tony’s main responsibilities
include business transformation, customer
centred service design, and strategic advice.
With an extensive career in local government
some of Tony’s notable achievements
are the development of an information management
strategy, the outsourcing of all ITC services
to a fully managed services partner, the
implementation of a business transformation
strategy, the development of a customer
services improvement strategy, the deployment
of electronic building consents, and the
implementation of corporate wide electronic
document management system.

Neil Osmond
Strategy Manager - Technology. Marketing &
Strategy
Gen-i
In his role as Strategy Manager - Technology,
Neil’s responsibilities include interrogating
the viability of emerging technologies and
trends in ICT, and developing strategies
to deliver capability through Gen-i’s
service portfolios for our corporate clients.
During 24 years in the technology industry
Neil has gained experience in technical
implementation, design & consultancy
and, for the last 10 years, has held strategic
planning roles in marketing, service development,
and business strategy within Telecom and
Gen-i. |
